A live read of the sea off Tyre — wave height, the swell behind it, sea temperature and the wind — for the fishing crews who work this coast and anyone watching the water. It describes the open sea a few kilometres out; close inshore around the harbour and the breakwater can be calmer or rougher than this.
This describes the weather on the water — it is not a judgement that it is safe to go out
Wave and wind figures are a forecast model, not a measurement, and they say nothing about your boat, your load or your experience. Off Tyre the real dangers also include other vessels, naval restrictions on how far out you may go, and pollution near the river and sewage outflows. Decide for yourself, and if in doubt do not launch.
Open sea off Tyre
The forecast reads an open-water point a few kilometres west of the harbour and the old-city peninsula. The fishing port sits on the north side of the peninsula; the long sandy beach runs south of it.

A forecast is not the sea itself
These are open-water model forecasts, not what the water is doing where you are — out here the weather turns fast and the water is cold year-round, with no lifeguards. Wear a life jacket, tell someone your plan and your return time, and if it looks wrong, stay in. In an emergency at sea, call the Civil Defense on 125.
