The situation, plainly
Ontario's Health Care Connect service adds you to the waiting list for a family doctor or nurse practitioner who is taking new patients in your area. Have your Ontario health card ready.
Register online, or call 811 any time. If you have used Health Care Connect before, you can only re-register by calling 811.

For everyday, non-urgent things — a cough, a prescription refill, a minor injury — a walk-in clinic can see you without a regular doctor. Sudbury has several, including Northwood Medical, the Brady Clinic and the Notre Dame clinic. Their hours change often, so check before you go.
Health811 gives free, confidential advice from a registered nurse, 24 hours a day. Call 811 or use the website to check symptoms, decide whether you need to be seen, and find services near you. It is not a replacement for 911.

For anything serious or life-threatening — chest pain, trouble breathing, severe bleeding — call 911 or go straight to the emergency department. You do not need a family doctor to be seen. The ER treats the sickest patients first, so a non-urgent visit can mean a long wait; you can check the current wait before you go.
Health Sciences North — Emergency Department
If you or someone you know is in mental-health crisis, you do not have to wait for a doctor. Call or text 988, Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline, any time. Health Sciences North also runs local Crisis Intervention Services.
