For a bill question
Bills and accounts go through your online Customer Space (Espace client) on hydroquebec.com, which has an English setting at the top of the page.
Licences and vehicle registration are handled by the SAAQ. Most renewals can be paid online or by phone; some changes need an in-person visit, and the nearest counter is through the MRC Pontiac service point or a regional SAAQ office.

The SAAQ mails a notice with the amount due. A driver's licence is renewed on a cycle tied to your birth date; a vehicle registration renews yearly.

Many people in the Pontiac don't have a family doctor. You put your name on a single provincial waiting list (the GAMF), and in the meantime there are real options for care that aren't the ER.

Register on the Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF) at gamf.gouv.qc.ca with your health card. It's the one provincial waiting list; you can also register by phone if you need help — call 811 and ask.
Until you're matched, use these
Call Info-Santé at 811 (English available) for free nurse advice any time. The CLSC Shawville handles many things a clinic would. Watch local news (The Equity, CHIP FM) — new doctors setting up in the Pontiac is genuinely reported, and clinics sometimes reopen their lists.
Don't use the ER for routine care
Pontiac Community Hospital's ER is under heavy strain (waits have run very long). It's there for emergencies — for everything else, 811 and the CLSC come first.

There's no town police force — the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) covers Shawville from the MRC Pontiac detachment in Campbell's Bay. Use 911 only for emergencies; everything else goes to the non-urgent line.

Shawville has English public schools run by the Western Quebec School Board. To attend an English school in Québec, a child generally needs a Certificate of Eligibility for English instruction — the school walks you through it.

For elementary, call Dr. S.E. McDowell (819) 647-3800; for Grades 7–11, Pontiac High School (819) 647-2244. They register in English and will tell you exactly what to bring.
