KD Autotrolej runs Rijeka's buses — 50 lines across the city and the ring of 13 towns and municipalities around it. Here is what a ride costs, who rides free, and where to buy a ticket. The short version: if you are retired, over 65 or at secondary school and your address is in Rijeka, the city pays your monthly card in full, and the number of people who do not know that is the reason this page leads with it.

Free — retired, or 60+ and not working, living in RijekaThe mirovinska monthly card. Its list price is €19.50 for Zone 1 and €33.00 for all four zones; Grad Rijeka covers it in full for anyone with registered residence in the city. Bring your ID card and the decision proving you are retired — or, if you are 60+ and out of work, a certificate from the employment or pension office.	—	Free, all four zones
Free — 65 and over, living in RijekaThe godišnja karta 65+, valid a year at a time. The list price runs €14.50 to €100.00 a year by income band (A €0–470, B €470.01–700, C €700.01–930, D above €930.01) — that is what residents of the surrounding towns pay. Grad Rijeka covers it in full for its own residents. Bring your ID card and proof of last month's income.	—	Free, all four zones (an annual card)
Free — secondary-school student living in RijekaThe city has paid the whole monthly card since 1 January 2025 and has continued it for the 2025/26 school year — about €500,000 a year. Register the entitlement once at a sales point; after that you can renew it at a kiosk or through the webshop.	—	Free
