Who to Call in North Platte

308-535-6789 · 308-535-6740 · 308-535-6700

North Platte Police Department · Municipal Light & Water · Public Service Department

Police non-emergency, Municipal Light & Water for power, water and sewer, the sanitation call-in line, the snow line, and how to book a bus.

Numbers for the City of North Platte and the services most people need, read off the City's own staff directory and department pages on 29 October 2026. Electricity, water and sewer are all city-owned here, so one number covers all three.

A Snow Emergency means move the car

Once the City declares a Snow Emergency, every vehicle has to be off the streets marked as emergency snow routes. One left there is ticketed $35, and towed at the owner's cost if it is still there after that. A Snow Alert comes first when there is time to give warning. While an emergency is on, the City staffs 308-535-6700 around the clock.

A bus ride costs half as much if you book the day before

North Platte Public Transit is booked by phone, not a timetable: $4 for a same-day ride, $2 if you book by 1 pm the day before. The phones switch off an hour before the office closes.
