Bombo Road at Bwaise and the Bwaise flyover
One of the city's worst flood points — the road dips and fills fast, and the flyover approaches go under in heavy rain.
Bombo Road at Kubiri Roundabout
A chronic flashpoint; the low junction floods and traffic backs up toward the city.
The Northern Bypass (low sections)
Often used as a diversion around city flooding — but parts of the bypass itself flood, so check before you rely on it.
Kinawataka, Kyambogo and Banda approaches (eastern city)
These low eastern stretches were made impassable in the March 2025 floods; motorists were warned to avoid them.

A map can’t see today’s water
Bwaise
The best-known black-spot in the city. Bwaise sits on the Lubigi wetland's drainage; where Bombo Road dips at the Bwaise flyover, runoff pours off the hills and the low lanes stay under for hours after heavy rain.

Kalerwe
The market and the low ground beside the Lubigi wetland. When the rains are heavy the channel through the area backs up, and trade and the low roads stop until the water drains.
Kyebando–Nsoba
A low ward on the Nsooba channel, named alongside Bwaise and Kalerwe in the Kawempe flood survey — water runs down off the hills and stands in the valley bottom.
Makerere III (Kikoni)
A dense, low ward below Makerere hill. Runoff off the high ground collects here and the narrow lanes flood in the heavier rains.
Kubiri Roundabout (Bombo Road)
A chronic flooding flashpoint on Bombo Road, where the low junction fills fast and traffic backs up into the city.
Katwe
A low valley on the Nakivubo channel just south-west of the Clock Tower. When the channel is blocked or overwhelmed, the workshops and roads here are among the first to flood, every rainy season.
Ntinda (low points)
The low stretches of Ntinda flood in downpours, part of the Ntinda–Kiwatule corridor that leaves travellers stranded when the rain is heavy.
Kiwatule
The Kiwatule–Ntinda low points inundate in heavy rain, cutting local roads until the water goes down.
Kinawataka
Made impassable by flash floods in the March 2025 storms; motorists were warned to avoid it. A recurring flood point on the eastern side of the city.
Kyambogo
Named with the eastern flood corridor as impassable in the March 2025 floods — the low approaches hold water after heavy rain.
Nakivubo Channel (Kisenyi)
The city's main drain. When the Nakivubo channel is silted, blocked or simply overwhelmed, it backs up and the low downtown and Kisenyi areas flood.
Clock Tower
On the Nakivubo corridor at the southern edge of the city centre — a recurring flood-and-gridlock point when the channel overflows.
Natete
A low western suburb the Red Cross named among the hardest hit in the March 2025 floods, with thousands affected. The low ground floods when the rains are heavy.
