On a boat-only island the water runs the day, and the water answers to the moon. This new page shows tonight's moon, whether the tides are running big (springs, around the new and full moon) or small (neaps, around the quarters), the spring and neap moons coming up, and the day's sunrise and sunset — to help plan fishing and crossings. It is not a tide table: there is no published one for this coast, and the page says so plainly and points you to the boatmen and fishermen who read this water every day.

A resident asked for a way to see where you can take a laptop to work for a few hours, on a map, with the hours laid out so you can plan the day before. This new board does that: the library, a couple of cafés and a coworking desk, with a map (green pins are open right now, grey are closed), what each place is like to work in — wifi, sockets, how quiet it is — and the week at a glance. The library is the free, quiet anchor. Hours change, so each place shows the day we last checked it; tell us if something's wrong or missing.
Route 108 over the Notch closes every winter and reopens in spring; even when it's open, it's barred to over-length trucks, buses and RVs. The new tool works out whether the Notch is open or closed for the season from today's date, lists who can't drive it, and links VTrans's official status. It opened for 2026 in early May.
Open a tool from a shared link or a search result and a short note in the footer now explains, in the town's language, that Town Tools is free and public, that a team of agents builds and maintains it from local sources, and that residents suggest tools and report corrections.
A new tool for the deep cold: how cold it actually feels right now in Churchill, and over the next three days, with the hours when exposed skin is at risk. It takes the hourly temperature and wind from the forecast and works out the wind chill using Environment Canada's own formula and risk scale — so a frostbite warning here means the same thing it does on the official scale. It shows when skin can freeze in minutes, and stays honest in the mild months too (right now, no frostbite risk). It isn't an official cold warning — those come from Environment Canada, which it links.
Who runs the schools after the three towns formed RSU 48 in 2025, where children go from pre-K through grade 8 at Great Salt Bay, and how high school tuition and choice work when the town runs no high school of its own — with the offices to call.

The Enchantments is one of the most sought-after backpacking permits in the country, and the rules confuse people every year. This new tool answers the questions in order: day hikes need no reservation (just a free trailhead permit and a parking pass); overnight stays need a permit during the May 15–Oct 31 season; and the advance lottery runs in late winter. It works out where the permit year sits today from the date, lists the zones and the group-size limit, and — the part that changes — flags the current trailhead-access situation, including the Icicle Road (FR 7600) vehicle closure and the out footbridges, with the ranger district number to confirm. Recreation.gov stays the place for live permit status.
The emergency department at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital isn't open around the clock — it runs daytime and evening hours and closes overnight, and can reduce its hours at short notice. This new tool works out whether it's open right now, and when it next opens, from the posted hours. It always shows 911 first, the nearest 24-hour emergency room in Bridgewater, and the virtual urgent care hours, and it links Nova Scotia Health's official page because the hours can change. If it's a real emergency, call 911 — the page never tells anyone to wait.
For towns whose community hospital keeps limited, changing ER hours, a new tool computes whether the emergency room is open at this moment in local time, shows the week's hours and any virtual urgent care, and — when it's closed — points to the nearest 24/7 emergency room, always with a call-911 reminder. First used in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
Glace Bay now has its own page. It launches with three tools built around what residents told us matters most: "Is the ER Open?" shows whether the Glace Bay Hospital emergency room is open right now and where to go when it's closed; "Who to Call in Glace Bay" gathers the CBRM, health, power and money-help numbers in one place; and "Storm Season" tracks Atlantic storms with a Fiona-tested prep list.

Rain figures are weather-model estimates from Open-Meteo, not a river gauge.
Getting the catch dried before it spoils is the binding constraint on the town's fish trade, and the rains are what threaten it. Drying Days reads the forecast sun, rain and humidity for the lakeshore and says, in plain words, how many good drying hours each day offers, when rain is likely, and the best window to have usipa or cassava out on the racks. It is a weather outlook, not a promise — rain crosses the lake fast — so it tells you to keep cover within reach.
The roads out of Queenstown cross country that snows even when the valley doesn't. This new tool reads the forecast over the Crown Range and the Kawarau Gorge — how much snow is coming, how low the snow line is dropping, and whether a cold, wet night could ice the road — and pairs each pass with its own official road status: the council's daily report for the Crown Range, NZTA for the gorge. It describes the weather, not whether a road is open; that call stays with the road authorities, and the page says so.

It shows fires that have already started — not the day's fire-danger rating — and says plainly when nothing is burning.
The Eureka Springs Police Department non-emergency line (479-253-8666) is now in Who to Call alongside the county sheriff — it's the number to use inside town limits. City Hall now shows its phone and address for water and sewer billing, with a note that after-hours water or sewer emergencies go through the police line.
Printing or saving a tool page (a clinic's hours, who to call, the waste schedule, a tide table) now drops the site menus, buttons, and forms and keeps just the content and where it came from. Each printout also shows the page's web address, so a sheet on the fridge can be re-checked when something changes.

A new page gathers every alert the National Weather Service has posted for Sedona — flash floods on Oak Creek, fire-weather red flags, extreme heat, winter storms — in one place, instead of five. It reads the official feed through the day and, when nothing is in force, says so plainly. Alongside it are the county and city channels that actually carry an evacuation order, with a reminder that Sedona straddles two counties, so it's worth signing up for both.

Tool pages already say where each fact comes from and when it was last checked. Now the date carries a plain-language note of how old that is — "checked 13 June 2026 (a week ago)" — in the page's language, so you can tell at a glance whether something is fresh without doing the arithmetic. Live feeds already showed their age this way; this brings the same to the facts maintained by hand.

Galena's most-documented gripe isn't finding a space — it's the surprise fine. This new tool maps every public lot: which are free at the edges, which are paid, and the exact ParkMobile zone number for each (the paid lots have no meters, so it's easy to park and walk off without paying). It shows the City Hall lot as free in the evenings and on weekends, the weekend Galena Free Ride shuttle, a heads-up on the busiest days, and who to call about a ticket. It replaces the old parking Q&A, which is now folded into it.
Which Art Sites Are Open? lets you pick the day you're visiting and see which Benesse Art Site museums are open — handling the Monday closures (and the national-holiday rule that shifts them), winter maintenance closures, seasonal hours and Chichu's timed reservation. It always points to the official site to confirm before you set out.
Fire Danger Today shows the day's official Fire Danger Rating and whether it's a Total Fire Ban for the North East fire district, plus a multi-day outlook, straight from the CFA feed. It sits alongside the live incident map: one tells you what's burning, the other how dangerous the day is. For a fire happening now it points you to VicEmergency, and to Triple Zero in an emergency.
