A new tool for the Santa Clarita Valley: the 2026-2027 school-year calendar for all five districts — Hart, Saugus Union, Newhall, Sulphur Springs and Castaic Union — together. It shows whether there's school today, when the next break is, and where the calendars differ (the districts start between August 10 and 13, and their spring and fall breaks don't all line up). Each district's official calendar is linked as the last word.
Compare driving in and parking against Santa Clarita Transit's Commuter Express to Downtown L.A. — set your own days and your own car, and it shows which costs less over a year, with the official fares and gas price to check it against.
On the town page, the tool now shows today's easier outdoor windows and the peak feels-like temperature at a glance, without opening it.
Added LA County's order to cap the reaction area with geomembrane by August 31, 2026 — the county hearing board denied the operator's appeal in May — alongside the EPA's September 15 western-slope deadline already listed.
The city has confirmed the July 4 fireworks at Valencia Town Center, 9:15 p.m. — it was unverified for 2026 when the board first shipped, so it waited. Now it's on the board with its source.
Live cancellations, per-train delays and planned work from Metrolink's official alerts feed, scoped to the AV Line and the three stations in town — with the March 2026 service cut explained and the real timetable always linked.
Hour-by-hour feels-like heat and air quality, read together on the published NWS and EPA scales, with the easier windows named — for practices, paseo walks and Concerts in the Park evenings. On a 99°F launch day it already has opinions.
A fire check that reads CAL FIRE's incident list and says plainly whether anything is burning near the valley; an events page that keeps the farmers markets, summer series and dated events in one place with sources; a plain-language record of where the Chiquita Canyon landfill situation stands; and an hourly air quality picture. Requested by a resident who named the gap — events news scattered across six calendars and two Instagram accounts.
