A neighbour-reported rent board — a room in a shared flat, or a 1-room flat in Staré Mesto, KVP/Terasa/Sever, or Nad jazerom. No listing site or official statistic publishes what people actually pay here, so this tracks the median of what residents report themselves.
The page's holiday list stopped on 6 January 2027, so from that date it would have charged you for parking on days that are free. The 2027 Slovak days of rest are now in, taken from the government's own list. Two of them are worth knowing about: 8 May and 15 September were suspended for 2026 only, under a temporary provision of Act 241/1993, and they are days of rest again in 2027. The page had them correctly missing for 2026 and correctly present for 2027.
The city council approved free visitor parking hours for resident-card holders — 100 hours a year with a car, 200 without — taking effect 1 January 2027. It's now on the Parking Cards page, alongside what's still pending before it becomes final.
A new events page gathers the fixed dates that matter: the Medzinárodný maratón mieru on 4 October (Europe's oldest marathon) and its Saturday family run, Biela noc's light-art nights on 9-11 October, and what's on now at Kulturpark — plus links to the theatre, HC Košice and the city's own listings for everything else.
The heating-season page works out the decree's arithmetic — the average of 7:00, 14:00 and twice 21:00, against 13 °C on two days running. You can now ask it to email you when that crosses, in either direction, instead of checking. One sign-up covers both the switch-on and the pause. It is not a switch notice and never will be: TEHO measures at its own point and makes the actual call, and the email says so and links where the real switch is announced. The season opens on 1 September.
Twice a year the city puts veľkokapacitné kontajnery out on named streets for a few days at a time. The whole 2026 rota is published as open data, but nothing let you ask it by street — so this page does. Type your street and it tells you which days a container stands near you, and what else is still coming to your mestská časť. Worth knowing: the two rounds of the year usually stop at different house numbers on the same street, so check the address rather than just the street name. The autumn round starts on 15 September.
A colored-pencil banner of the Gothic cathedral and the free-standing Urban Tower over the tree-lined main boulevard, past the neo-baroque State Theatre.
The parking pair reads the city ordinance so you don't have to: a per-band cost calculator that knows every daily cap, and the cards explained — including that regulated parking reaches Sídlisko KVP on 1 March 2027, a year later than the city's own FAQ still says. The heating pair covers the other big grievance: a live read of the outdoor temperature against the legal 13 °C switch-on rule (the decree's evening-weighted average, computed exactly), and a neighbour board for "no heat or hot water on my sídlisko?". Air quality framed for the basin's winter smog, the DPMK tariff with your 20-minute compensation rights, a which-bin search that explains why plastic-bagged bio gets the brown bin refused, and every fault line worth saving round it out.
Slovakia's second city joins as the platform's first Slovak town: a shrinking, ageing steel-and-universities city of 223,678 in a basin where winter air has nowhere to go. Its first eight tools go straight at what residents actually argue about — parking cards, cold radiators, the bus that never came, the bin that never got emptied.
