Look up your address on the bin day page and you can ask for an email before every collection — the evening before, or early on the day. It names each container going out, and it follows ROVA's own dates, including any change for a public holiday. Free, one message per collection, and you can stop from any email.

Nobody counts the crowd here as it happens. Tap a place — the Binnenpad, the Dorpsgracht, the car parks on the Beulakerweg — to say whether it is quiet, busy or packed, and see what other people have said in the last few hours. Reading it needs no account; adding to it needs you signed in.

Put in a postcode and house number and the page reads ROVA's own service for that address. Two houses a few doors apart in Giethoorn can be on completely different rounds — along the water the collection comes by boat, on the roads what is left over goes to a container — so the address is the whole answer. If ROVA has your address but no collections at the door, the page says that plainly instead of showing a blank.

A calm, always-current list of the official public notices that touch Giethoorn — permits, road and water closures, plan hearings and ordinances — read live from the Dutch national register (officiële bekendmakingen). Each notice links its official page, and the tool points you to overheid.nl's 'berichten over uw buurt' to get notices for your own address.

It turns the weather into a plain read of how much cold has built up on the water this freeze — and how far that is from what the ice clubs look for. It never says the ice is safe: only IJsclub Giethoorn, after measuring, can. Snow ice looks thick without being strong, the open lakes freeze long after the canals, and in an emergency you call 112.

One place for the numbers a resident needs: gemeente Steenwijkerland, your Giethoorn GP at De Tjasker, the nearest hospital and out-of-hours doctor in Meppel, ROVA for waste, and the water board. Numbers are tappable, with a note on the boat-route bins for homes on the water.
